Why Choose North Iowa Christian School?

At North Iowa Christian School we are partnering with parents to raise dedicated disciples. This means your student’s education will supplement what you are seeking to do in your home and what you are hoping to find in your church. Our vision is to lead students to faith in Jesus Christ and develop them into people molded by a Christian worldview. This will enable them to participate in their homes, churches and society as models of faith.

It is not ironic that our secular world, with its tireless attempts to unify itself without a transcendent framework, has left those in its grip more fragmented than ever. As Christian educators we believe the Scriptures provide a coherent and cohesive set of answers to the fundamental questions of life. Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? As such, they are the legitimate foundation for all true learning. By instilling a biblical worldview in our students they will know their intrinsic worth and eternal purpose, and they will possess the proper ground upon which they can build a life worth living.

Distinctly Christian education is never devoid of the relationship between teacher and student. Our teachers are not only educators for the sake of intellectual growth, but role models for the sake of character formation. We invest in your student’s life. Intentional relationships are a primary backbone of discipleship. Only then can the information taught in class be appropriated in the lived-experience by your student. If Jesus is a primary example for effective Christian education, then his model had at its foundation the teacher-student relationship. This process can begin as early as the first day of Kindergarten, or as late as the middle of 12th grade. What is most important is not when it begins, but that it begins.

As a parent, you cannot make a greater investment in your child than giving them a Christ-centered education. It will form their character, shape their values, influence their dreams, and ignite their passion. More than this, your student will be surrounded by an environment fundamentally geared towards maturing him/her. The environment at NICS will afford your student the safety from being exposed to elements of this sinful world that might stain his/her conscience in his/her vulnerable youth. Yet, it will also intentionally expose him/her to the brokenness of this world at the appropriate stage of development so as to inspire courage, conviction, and calling. An investment like this is one you will never regret, and your child will look back upon with increasing gratitude as he/she ventures further on the spiritual journey.

NICS is accredited through Christian Schools International (CSI) for all grades (K-12).

What Makes North Iowa Christian School Special?

We use a variety of curriculum from trusted educational sources in the Christian world. Our classroom ratio averages about 1:7. This means your student will experience a level of individual attention rarely matched by other educational institutions. You should expect your student to be welcomed with a warm, caring environment where he/she can easily build new friendships in a positive, learning atmosphere. Bullying, cliques, and ostracizing are not tolerated. Students interact across ages and learn to respect one another as intrinsically valuable creations of God. More than this, our disciplinary process is built upon a philosophy of restoration. This means discipline is perceived as an opportunity for growth, not a punitive measure for doing something wrong. Finally, we want our parents to know they are invested members of a loving community, and they have a voice at the table. We believe they are part of the educational process and have unique insights that are valuable to our growth as an institution. These are just a few things that set NICS apart in the world of education.

Non Discrimination Policy

It is the policy of the North Iowa Christian School to maintain a school environment that is free from discrimination and to conduct its educational practices, admissions program, financial aid policies, hiring, and other school-administrative programs on the basis of an individual’s qualifications and abilities. The School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (unless it is required as a bona fide occupational qualification), sex, national origin, age, marital status, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law, unless a particular status protected by federal, state, or local laws contradict the deeply held religious convictions of the North Iowa Christian School. This policy is held in accordance with the beliefs of the North Iowa Christian School (Romans 2:11 - "There is no preferential treatment with God."), in accordance with the moral conscience of the School Board, and in compliance with the directives of Christian Schools International (CSI).

All grievances should be handled in the spirit of Matthew 18:15-35, that is, in the spirit of attempted reconciliation.

  • Parents, faculty, or independent contractors who have grievances with faculty or staff should first attempt to settle the grievance with that individual.
  • If the party with the complaint does not feel the matter has been satisfactorily resolved, the party should then present the grievance to the School Coordinator.
  • If the party with the complaint still feels the matter has not been resolved satisfactorily, the party may then present the grievance, in writing, to the school Board by contacting the Chairman.
  • Grievances will be directed by the Chairman to the Education Committee. The Committee will deal with the problem by calling upon the parties involved as seems warranted.
  • Unresolved problems may be directed to the full Board at the discretion of the Chairman.
